Jack’s Boy was a difficult book to write and when I was finished with the first draft I could barely stand to revise it. I only hope that a kid somewhere will read it and realize he or she isn’t alone; or, that a parent might read it and change; or that an uncle, aunt, brother or sister might read it and send out a tentacle of help and hope; that help will come. In my career as a juvenile justice lawyer for Legal Services, a mentor at an inner city Middle School, and as a development guy for a big suburban school district, I’ve met a lot of kids who grew up in the shadow of alcohol. This book is for them, all of them. I hope they find peace

An alcoholic parent influences your life often to the point of no return wondering all the while what you did wrong, why it does not change, and where should you go from here. Peace and love, however prayed for seems to elude your life in ways you can never understand.
